Plans aren't on sale yet

The essentials stay free.
Extras are optional.

Seeing snakes near you, snake alerts, reporting one, first aid and finding a catcher will always be free. Coil Plus and Coil Premium add history, more photos and video on your reports, other areas, dark mode and family sharing.

During the beta

The core features are free for everyone. We're trialling the Plus and Premium extras with beta testers before plans launch, so there's nothing to buy yet. Plans will go on sale in the App Store when Coil launches.

Photo and video limits are proposed and may change before plans launch. The AI only looks at photos, not videos or written descriptions, and it works the same on every plan.

For licensed snake catchers

Get found by people who need you, right when they need you.

When someone reports a snake, Coil shows them verified catchers who cover their suburb, with those available now at the top.

Handler listings are free during the beta. Paid handler plans will follow, priced so that one job covers the month.

What verified handlers get

  • A verified tick on your profile and comments
  • Listed for people in your service area, available-now first
  • Call and text straight from a sighting
  • Confirm species and clear sightings once the snake is relocated
  • Your own referral code, with sign-ups counted for you
  • Coming soon: job requests sent straight to you

We check every handler's state wildlife licence and public liability insurance before they're verified.

Questions

Will the core features always be free?

Yes. The map, snake alerts, reporting, first aid and finding a snake catcher stay free for everyone. Plus and Premium only add convenience, like history, more photos and video.

How do snake alerts work?

Turn them on in the app and you'll get a notification when someone reports a snake within 5 km of you, or 2, 10 or 25 km if you choose. Alerts use the area where you last opened Coil, kept to within about a kilometre. They're the same on every plan, and you can turn them off any time. Not getting an alert doesn't mean there's no snake nearby.

Can I report a snake without a photo?

Yes, on every plan. Add a pin where you saw it, when you saw it, an optional place description like a walking track, and what you think you saw, or choose Unsure. Add as much description as you like. These reports are labelled Unverified sighting, and the species is never treated as confirmed.

Do paid plans get better AI identification?

No. The AI photo check is the same on every plan. It only looks at photos, not videos or written descriptions, and it can be wrong on any plan. Paying adds features like more photos and video, but it never makes a snake ID safer or more certain.

How does sharing Premium with family work?

Premium covers up to 5 people: you and 4 others. Each person uses Coil on their own phone with their own account. You send them your family code from the app (Account, then Your family), and they enter it under Join a family. You can remove people, and get a new code, at any time.

When do Plus and Premium start?

When Coil launches on the App Store, after the beta. Plans aren't on sale yet. During the beta, the core features are free for everyone, and we're trialling the Plus and Premium extras with beta testers so we can get them right. We'll give plenty of notice before any plan starts, and beta testers will be looked after.

How do I pay and cancel?

Plans will be bought through the App Store, so you can manage or cancel them any time in your iPhone's Settings.

Is Coil on Android?

Not yet. The beta is iPhone first. Android will follow once the beta has shaped what Coil needs to be.

Which areas does Coil cover?

All of Australia. Coil works in every state and territory, and sightings and handlers fill in fastest where the most people use it, so tell your neighbours.
